Campaigning for Persecuted Christians

Every 3rd Thursday of the month approximately 12 people meet at 10.15 a.m. for coffee and fellowship, followed by thoughts from God’s Word.  Those suffering worldwide for their Christian faith are remembered in prayer.

The prayer “fuel” is gleaned mainly from 3 sources: Barnabas Fund, Open Doors and Release International.  Personal financial contributions from the group are pooled and then divided between these 3 organisations.   St. Andrew’s Church supports Barnabas Fund in the many facets of its outreach.

Occasionally the group may be asked to obtain signatures from church members to send to ambassadors or parliamentarians who have the ability to improve the lot of those who suffer.  A recent campaign for more religious freedom in North Korea resulted in over 4,000 signatures being given to the country’s ambassador.   The outcome is in God’s hands but echoing Paul’s words, the group will “continue steadfastly in prayer.”
