Weekly Praying Together
Saturday, March 2nd, 2013
Though there are times when we should pray alone, the New Testament makes it clear that the early Christians met to pray together… frequently (Acts 1:14) and, therefore, so should we! Chief among our times of praying together at St. Andrew’s is the Thursday evening gathering, 7-8pm. If you are unable to make that gathering, you can share in the prayer by using the prayer guide contained in this page. The page is refreshed every Thursday.
Thursday 9th May 2013
Congregation
- Pray for those of our congregation, and others known to you, who are suffering ill-health at this time. We have several people in hospital at this time and others who are seriously ill at home
- Continue to pray for Kevin and Kerry Proctor and baby Lola and give thanks that Isobel Mitchell’s great granddaughter, Charlotte, is much improved
- Pray for the meeting of the Management Group of Havilah taking place later tonight, 9th May. May God grant the group wisdom as they seek to both administer the project and take it forward
- Pray for Martin, our minister, who is travelling to London for the International Leadership Conference being hosted by Alpha. May he return inspired, refreshed and enthused
Church at Large
- Praise God that the BIG DAY OUT event held in Arbroath last Saturday was such a big success. May all those who attended take forward the inspiration and ideas that were in such abundant supply!
- Continue to pray for the upcoming Heat & Soul event scheduled to take place in Edinburgh on the afternoon of the 19th May. May our capital city resound to the sounds of God’s name being praised!
- Continue praying for the General Assembly of The Church of Scotland which meets during the third week in May. Pray that God would richly bless Rev Lorna Hood, the new Moderator, who will have the huge responsibility of chairing the meetings
Community
- Pray for Stuart as he conducts assemblies at the Academy throughout next week
- Pray for the very successful Girls Group that meets every Monday evening in OBs. May God strengthen those who are leading the group and may he bless the many girls attending
Nation
- As our nation continues to debate the question of immigration, pray that we might continue to be open to those who seek freedom from oppression and a better life for their families
- Pray for Police Scotland - the new unified force - as it seeks to deliver day-to-day policing whilst managing huge administrative changes
World
- Give thanks that the Bangladeshi PM, Sheikh Hasina, recently turned down a demand by radical Islamists to enact a blasphemy law against those seen to desecrate Islam. This law would have put the country in the same state of confrontation and hatred as Pakistan. Ask our God to strengthen PM Hasina and those determined to protect religious freedom in Bangladesh
- Pray for our ongoing work in Malawi. Give thanks that the new classroom at Thyolo is now complete and ready to be equipped! Pray for all of our teachers and staff working hard at the various centres
