St. Andrew's Parish Church
Arbroath, Scotland

imageThis, the first week in June 2013, has been a hugely significant one in the life of St Andrew’s Church. We’ve hosted four sessions of our Stewardship 2013 programme during which we’ve sketched out something of our vision for the ways in which we believe God is calling us forward as a congregation. With almost 200 people sharing in these evenings, it’s been a hugely demanding week for our Hospitality Team who have served up four superb two-course meals. If there’s one thing we know how to do well at St Andrew’s, it’s eating together! Click here to view more

imageFew of those who were gathered by the harbour on Sunday lunchtime, 5th May 2013, will ever forget what they witnessed in the Baptism of Naomi Dunphy. The water was FREEZING cold but the occasion more than made up for any discomfort felt by those who made their way into the sea! The actual baptism was preceeded by a short service during which Naomi made a short statement of her Christian faith - a copy of which can be found at the bottom of this article. imageRarely - if ever! - have we enjoyed such a hectic Easter season at St. Andrew’s, with the emphasis being very much on our work among children and families. With almost ninety p7 children attending The Easter Code and 80 attending the week-long Space Academy holiday club, the church has never been more alive! And sandwiched between these two spectaculars there was, of course, the small matter of our celebrations of Easter - the death and resurrection of our Lord! Click here to view more

Welcome to St. Andrew's Lots of churches have noticeboards outside their buildings which, among other things, declare, ‘All Welcome.’ Sadly, what is experienced within is something less. At St. Andrew’s Church, we have worked tirelessly over the years to make ‘welcome’ something that is genuine, and extended to all. The following pretty much sums up what we want you know about our church: Click here to view more

Wimagee launched our brand new early morning service on the first Sunday in April and were delighted that between thirty and forty people chose to attend. When we first started our Wednesday morning service, nine people came along - now the average is between forty and fifty! In the same way, we expect the new monthly 9.30pm service to grow and develop.

As well as being more traditional in style, this new service will allow people to come to worship earlier in the day if they have other commitments at a later stage.

Stuart IrvinIt was with great delight that on 10th February, the congregation welcomed The Rev. Stuart Irvin to be its Associate Minister. His appointment followed a lengthy period of prayer, reflection and searching and so the over-riding sense among the congregation was one of answered prayer… and relief!

Stuart and his wife, Lynne - a teacher - have come to us from Stonehaven, where Stuart completed his probationary period, the final part of his training for ministry. And he comes highly recommended! Click here to view more

WelcomeI had opportunity to chat recently with a couple who had visited St. Andrew’s for the first time. Thankfully, their experience was a hugely positive one. In particular, they had this to day: ‘Your Church just exudes warmth.’ Well we have a modern, efficient heating system so, YES, it’s usually nice and warm! But they were referring to the experience of being genuinely welcomed.

St. Andrew’s organises itself around three principles: WELCOME, WORSHIP and WITNESS. Why not come alone and judge for yourself how we’re doing in terms of the welcome AND the other two!

See you sometime soon.
