»
Between December 2001 and November 2002, the congregation of St Andrew's took a journey through the Gospel of Luke from beginning to end. In our Sunday and Wednesday worship services, and in small groups, we read and reflected on Luke's account of the life of Jesus.
In the major "Church without Walls" report received at the General Assembly 2001, congregations were urged to consider giving over a whole year to studying one gospel. This we decided to do. Most of us know many of the stories and are used to hearing bits of the gospel read. Through this series, we saw the big picture and heard the whole story of the life of Jesus from beginning to end, through the eyes of Luke. We progressed through the Gospel week by week, picking up the major themes on Sunday mornings and subsidiary topics on Wednesday mornings.
It's usual to make preparations for any significant journey, and so it is with this one. We published a booklet titled "The Gospel of Luke", which was given out to worshippers, and the contents are reproduced in this section of our website. We hope that you will find here an inspiration for such a journey as ours.
