As has always been the way in our particular tradition, a major focus of our worship services is the teaching element. Through 'The Message', we seek to apply the timeless truths of the Bible to our particular situation. In other words, we look to establish the links between the 'there and then' and the 'here and now' In all of this is our belief that God DOES speak through the Bible today It is for us to listen and to make sense of.
The year 2002 saw us work our way through the entire gospel of Luke, from beginning to end... hearing the story of Jesus in its fullness. Undoubtedly, most of us learned something of the 'Good News' that had escaped us previously! If you would like to retrace that journey, go to the Luke folder in the Online Library section of our website.
We are working our way through an equally exciting programme planned for 2003. January was given over to a restatement of the values and principles that make St Andrew's Church what it is. It's important that we remind ourselves regularly who we are, why we're here and what we're about.
Thereafter, we launched into a programme entitled 'Child of God'. 'Child of God' is an excellent teaching series that is guiding us through all of the main aspects of Christian belief. Those of us who are new to the faith are certainly benefiting from it, as are those who have been around for a while... there's always something new to learn.
An introduction to the 'Child of God' series will is available from the church office or here on our website.
