For months now weâve been looking forward to the launch of Sweaty Church. And now we have lift off! Our first ever Sweaty Church - and to the best of our knowledge the first in Scotland - took place on the afternoon of 8th September. We had a great team of volunteers in place, and with Stuart, our Associate Minister, at the helm, we were really pleased that thirty-six adults and children joined us for the inaugural event. The 90 minutes passed really quickly and everyone had a great - and energetic time! - with exercise, games and sports at the heart of it. Over the half-time juice and slice of orange, Stuart shared a message about aiming for our targets in life and how it makes all the difference to be able to do that knowing, as the apostle Paul put it, that ‘I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.â
In the current climate, it is required of the Church to be creative and imaginative in finding ways to re-engage with a society that has become thoroughly cut off from it. We hope and pray that Sweaty Church will prove to be an effective means of doing just that.
Sweaty Church takes place on the second Sunday of every month - next up on 13th October, 4pm.
