On Sunday 22nd September we celebrated our Harvest Thanksgiving service. The congregation arrived to find the church beautifully decorated – a harvest theme with a Malawian twist. The children from Sunday Club had great fun filling a shopping trolley with apples and carrots, milk and fish (amongst other things!) as they sang a harvest song. The congregation then added their donations of children’s vitamins to the trolley to be given to the children at Thyolo and Kambilonjo, the 2 residences supported by St. Andrews in Malawi.Bella Robb sang about the ‘Harvest of Love’; the words were particularly poignant as we then welcomed John Kang’ombe – our guest speaker - from AquAid in Malawi. He gave a vivid account of how hard life was for him as a child growing up in rural Malawi and how a chance encounter led him to the work he is doing today; his enthusiasm and passion for his work clearly demonstrated by his faith in God. The congregation shared a great time of worship and praise – it was a privilege to hear him speak.
The Harvest Collection this year is being donated to AquAid so they can purchase bags of maize to help those struggling as a result of the poor harvest this year.
