We were delighted to host the Kirkinâ Oâ the Council service for Angus on Sunday 8th September 2013. The Lady Provost, Lord Lieutenant of Angus, elected officials and representatives from all sections of civic life paraded to the Church from the townâs library on what was a beautiful early-autumn morning. Accompanied by the British Legion Pipe Band, the procession made a wonderful sight as it rounded the end of the High Street and approached the Church.Together with the usual congregation, the sanctuary was almost full to capacity and a great time of worship was shared in by all. Helen Oswald, the Provost, read the Old Testament lesson and Richard Stiff, the Chief Executive of Angus Council read the New Testament lesson. Martin, our minister, then delivered a powerful message regarding the relationship between church and state during which he took the opportunity to address key issues facing our community at this time. The service was followed by a buffet lunch. We look forward to a future occasion when again we will celebrate the Kirkinâ.
