As part of its Millennium Celebrations, the congregation decided - using a virtually unused part of the sanctuary - to create a small chapel, ideal for smaller worship occasions... a Church within the Church! Undoubtedly, this has allowed for a significant increase in the use that the building sees. Named after Ninian, who in the 4th Century brought the Christian Gospel to Scotland, the Chapel was dedicated for worship in March 2000 by The Rev. Ian McLeod, the former minister of the congregation.
The Chapel is used for worship every Wednesday morning at 10.30am. A short 30mins. service is held, followed by a time of fellowship. Up to thirty people can be seated in the Chapel, with overflow in the pews of the main sanctuary immediately behind.
On the third Wednesday evening of every month, at 8pm, a Service of Healing & Wholeness is held in the Chapel. A small, informal gathering, the service allows for those who feel themselves to be in particular need of the closeness of God to be prayed for and to sense the support of the prayerful fellowship. Prayers are also said for those who cannot be present but who are known to and love by the congregation.
PrayerPrayer is at the heart of the life of the congregation. Prayers are offered in worship services, of course, but, over and above, members are encouraged to pray through the week. A weekly list of prayer requests is printed. A prayers for others sheet is distributed after worship on Sundays and Wednesdays. The Circle of Prayer group meets EVERY Wednesday evening without fail, at 7pm, in The Saint Ninian Chapel.
If you find yourself in particular need of prayerful support, contact should be made with the prayer group through the Church Office. Pray without ceasing is our biblical motto and our promise and expression of care and compassion.
